 We will have a very special guest for our September meeting! Please take note, we will be meeting on the 3rd Tuesday instead of the 2nd Tuesday in September. We will be meeting on Tuesday September 21st to accommodate Harris County Judge Lina Hildago's schedule.

  We are sorry to announce that our original guest speaker, Police Chief Troy Finner will not be able to join us in August due to a scheduling conflict. We will reschedule Chief Finner as a guest speaker for BADM and announce as soon as we have a date set. We have two great speakers coming for July!


  Odus Evbagharu, 28, the new Harris County Democratic Party chair is the party’s first Black chair and the youngest person to hold the position. He is also Representative Jon Rosenthal's Chief of Staff so he will give a summary of the Texas Legislation Session as well as the current special session.He will be discussing his vision for Harris County Democrats.


  We also will have Isabel Longoria, the new Harris County Elections Administrator. Longoria will be discussing the new office and upcoming elections including the use of new voting machines with a paper trail!


  Co-sponsoring our meeting will be our Harris County Judge Tanya Garrison. Judge Garrison will provide great barbecue plates from  award winning Rub Me Tender as well as serving up her famous homemade cakes.  Come hungry! We will be meeting INDOORS at a larger venue, the MultiCultural Center. The Multicultural Center is located off Highway 3 near Ellington.

NOTE: Our June meeting will be held on Wednesday, not our regular Tuesday night. We will be meeting outside under the Pavilion in Clear Lake Park. We will have a barbecue truck, drinks, and special announcements about our upcoming meetings in August and September. Invite your friends, neighbors, and relatives and visit with like minded individuals.


Our guest will be Harris County Commissioner Adrian Garcia. Commissioner Garcia began his career in the Houston Police Department. He was appointed by Mayor Lee Brown as Director of the Mayor’s Anti-Gang Office, was then elected to Houston City Council and appointed as chair of two City Council committees — the Public Safety and Homeland Security Committee and the Minority / Women Business Enterprise Committee. With the support of his peers on City Council, he would be confirmed as Mayor Pro-Tem by Mayor Bill White.


Adrian continued his service by being elected to the office of Harris County Sheriff — the largest sheriff's office in Texas and the 3rd largest in the United States.

Chrysta Castañeda is an engineer, a lawyer, a community leader, and a mom. After receiving her degree in industrial engineering from Kansas State University, Chrysta earned her law degree from Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law, where she graduated cum laude.
